Build with me

Hi, I’m Sahar, and I’m looking for what’s next.

Here’s what I do: I make the implicit explicit. I see the problem, prototype a solution, rally a team behind it, we ship v1, and then I let them cook and work on the next problem. I believe in the virtuous interplay of writing, thinking, and building.

In the past, I’ve worked at Meta, Wikipedia, Blue Rose, and even started a technical think tank on how to better align social platforms. Being a public intellectual was fun, but now I’m back to building mode.

These days, I’m working with Val Town in growth engineering — bringing founder energy to help them grow. I’m also deep into AI, especially creating and wrangling systems of agents. I use Claude Code all day for personal projects and even as a sort of home office. The craft of engineering is changing in front of our eyes, and that’s intellectually thrilling.

I’m looking for roles at the intersection of research and product inside a larger firm. Ideally making AI tools (or frontier models themselves), but using them effectively works well too.

It’s more about impact and autonomy than what the job is called. But I find that role titles like technical ex founder, engineering manager, director, or lead often correlate with what I’m looking for.

That said, people and culture — while hard to filter for — matter just as much as title or firm to me. I am looking for a great boss I can learn from, and a culture that values being earnest, direct, and collaborative.

So — that’s the center of the target! I always enjoy learning more about firms making cool stuff, and I do a bit of advising and consulting on the side.

I live in New York, and love working in person. Ideally I’d be in the office 3-4 days a week. (Flexibly)

If you are working on a big hairy audacious goal and would enjoy someone who switches between technical and charismatic founder mode let’s talk.
